Junior Achievement Finance Park, Prince George County, MD

We currently need volunteers for in-school and after-school activities in Prince George County, MD. We are in with the Junior Achievement Finance Park, Landover, MD.

For school-based needs, there is a need for volunteers to:

  • Serve as mentors to middle to high school students     
  • Serve as a Career Day Speakers
  • Serve as a Science Fair Judge 

There are also opportunities to volunteer at Junior Achievement Finance Park once a month or once every other month, for those interested but cannot commit to frequent activities.

The Junior Achievement Finance Park does not require fingerprinting, but everyone will have their driver's license scanned to run through the National Sex Offenders Database. If volunteers are going to be in the school working with students, they need go through the fingerprinting process.

In Northern Virginia, we are partnered with Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia (CIS NOVA)


The mission of Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia (CIS NOVA) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS NOVA works within public school systems, establishing relationships with Superintendents, Principals, Educators and Community Partners to address both individual student as well as school-wide needs. We're looking for volunteer tutors and mentors to help us combine the art of one-on-one relationships with the science of proven, evidence-based programs, and to mobilize community resources and proven programs to achieve results and remove barriers that keep students from succeeding in school and life.

CIS NOVA in Alexandria County Public Schools (ACPS), is in need of volunteer mentors and tutors for students at Francis C. Hammond Middle School. 

For some background, Hammond is 76% free and reduced lunch, with almost 89% eligible for free and reduced lunch in our International Academy (IA). The IA is a school within a school model that is in high schools across the country, but ACPS is the first to pilot the program at a middle school. In IA, the students have been in the country for less than three years and all are English Language Learners.

Currently, we are looking for math tutors during the school day and for tutors/mentors afterschool and on Saturdays for all subjects. Candidates have to have a free background check and a brief training overview.
